What Pentagon officials fail to understand is that a skilled military linguist in Afghanistan is worth one hundred skilled riflemen. Until Pentagon, State Department and Langley officials begin to grasp that message, the Taliban and al-Qaeda, and their allies in Libya, Syria, Yemen, Pakistan and elsewhere will continue to surge.
