Stoke & Staffordshire
LANGUAGE students have launched a campaign to see Esperanto adopted as an international tongue. This year marks the 125th anniversary of the invention of Esperanto – devised by Ludwig Lazarus Zamenhof in 1887.

It seems to me to be quite remarkable that Esperanto can continue to attract young learners 125 years after it was launched into life.

Like Bill Chapman I also regret that most people still do not know that Esperanto is a living language – see for example http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8837438938991452670
Their new online course http://www.lernu.net has 125 000 hits per day and Esperanto Wikipedia enjoys 400 000 hits per day. That can’t be bad :)
