Police corruption case highlights Belgium's language laws / The Telegraph
...In 2006, after confessing his guilt, the police officer was given a prison sentence, upheld on appeal. Following the conviction, he was fired by the police but successfully appealed his sacking because as Flemish officer he had been disciplined by a French speaking superior.
