Inter-language translation project taken up

GUWAHATI, Dec 13 – A massive inter-language translation exercise has brought to light an enviably rich treasure trove of children’s literature of the NE region that has remained obscured so far. The venture has been undertaken jointly by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) and city-based voluntary organisation Anwesha.

Amendment to Manipur Official Language Act for inclusion of Meetei Mayek delayed
Imphal, June 02 2011: The state cabinet is yet to give its approval even as an expert committee has prepared a cabinet memorandum to rectify "written in Bengali Script' in the Manipur Official Language Act 1979 as "written in Bengali or Meetei Mayek script".

'Proud to struggle for language, script and culture'

Scholars slam Manipur government
He gave lectures on 'Meetei people and its history', 'Meetei culture through the ages', 'Meetei language through the ages', 'An introduction to Meetei script' on his first day in the workshop on April 20. On the second day he gave a lecture on 'Writing system of Meetei script and its philosophical background'.
